blast from the past

Yesterday had two amazing moments:

First, my cousin Katie posted this picture to Facebook!

There are multiple things to note about this picture:
  • This was 1991.....and yes, these clothes were "in."  (Mostly)
  • This was the first time that I carried a purse, and I believe it was a denim purse from Limited Too! 
  • Yes, Jonathan is not wearing Christmas gear....somehow he always got what he wanted?? 
  • Yes, I am the oldest.  Don't let looks deceive you.  
  • Yes, you are right.....baby Christopher could not be any cuter!  
  • And yes, he is standing right near me, because he was my bubby, and I was his second mother. 
  • I LOVE that my cousin Katie is leaning against me in this picture! =) 
  • I miss animatronics!  Billy Bob from Show Biz was the best!  This was Celebration Station, so definitely second rate compared to Show Biz.  
  • Family is the best!  Just by seeing this picture, my day was made because I felt loved, felt "at home," and was reminded where I come from and the support around me.  
The second awesome part of February 2 was that my favorite 5 month old randomly decided to not sleep last night until I arrived at my friend Jenn's house.  I am convinced that he knew that I was coming over to watch "Idol," and that he wanted to see me! So I hogged him until he fell asleep in my arms.  Heaven on earth!

Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end. Capri and Getting Home (final italy blog)

After Cinque Terre, we took the night train to Naples, then the ferry to Capri. Friends, if you take the night train in Italy, it is worth it to pay the price to have your own cabin. Trust me. We didn't sleep much at all because we were with 5 other people in this cabin. The island of Capri was amazing! We stayed in an amazing seaside resort, which was perfect for the end of the trip. We didn't walk around, didn't shop, didn't even really try to have an agenda. FANTASTIC.    Then it was back on the ferry to Naples. Of course, this water picture reminded me of LOST (sigh).  Heather left that night for her flight to Switzerland, then New York.  So I stayed near the airport and completely rested. I'll admit, I also cried like a baby.  I seriously get these huge mood swings when I travel - one minute I'm over the top with excitement, the next I'm alone sobbing that its all over.  I also spent a lot of time with God that night, just thanking Him for suc...
