Leap List!

Have you guys seen the Honda "Leap List" commercials?? They are adorable!! If you haven't, please watch below to get the idea!

So I have decided to create my own Leap List! Honestly, there isn't anything on this list that I wouldn't give up in a heartbeat in order to LEAP into the next phase of life. However, I am choosing to be stubborn about soaking in this phase of life. It is a season to be enjoyed!!

So at first I thought that my Leap List might include international travel or at least to visit all 50 states. Then I realized just how much of North Carolina I haven't even seen! (Honestly, it is A LOT).  Then I realized that there are things even in Forsyth County where I currently live that I haven't experienced! What is wrong with me?? So, my new Leap List is simply to start with Forsyth County and to begin to EXPLORE! After Forsyth County, I want to begin to explore other NC counties until I have literally visited all of them! This might take me quite some time, but I'm starting NOW.  I love history, I love photography, and I adore exploring. This will be a blast!

Winter and Spring 2017 Recap (A "life of Brooke" shocker!!)

Image
Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. For in this season....(are you ready blog readers??).....I ENTERED INTO A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP. It's true!! It's true!! I'm not going to share his name or photos, yet, in order to respect the fact that we both work at the same university, and it is a MAJOR "fishbowl" around here. Whew! (Granted, literally no one at ISU knows I blog, and I have no readers anymore, so there's that.......) We met because of a mutual friend, and he invited me to a Bible Study. We also happen to be in the same community choir, and so I've actually known of him for two years. Friends, this dating journey has already been magical. Being able to get to know him as a friend and fellow Christian before anything happened romantically was PERFECT. (Single gals, DO THIS. Trust me. Sit and observe. Pray, pray, pray. Work past the initial...

pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end. I feel so lucky to have such great families on both sides. I have tons of cousins ...

Capri and Getting Home (final italy blog)

Image
After Cinque Terre, we took the night train to Naples, then the ferry to Capri. Friends, if you take the night train in Italy, it is worth it to pay the price to have your own cabin. Trust me. We didn't sleep much at all because we were with 5 other people in this cabin. The island of Capri was amazing! We stayed in an amazing seaside resort, which was perfect for the end of the trip. We didn't walk around, didn't shop, didn't even really try to have an agenda. FANTASTIC.    Then it was back on the ferry to Naples. Of course, this water picture reminded me of LOST (sigh).  Heather left that night for her flight to Switzerland, then New York.  So I stayed near the airport and completely rested. I'll admit, I also cried like a baby.  I seriously get these huge mood swings when I travel - one minute I'm over the top with excitement, the next I'm alone sobbing that its all over.  I also spent a lot of time with God that night, just thanking Him for suc...
