whoah, 80's childhood

Have any of you ever pulled out old movies from the 80's? I'm talking classics like "NeverEnding Story."  If you were anything like me and watched 80's television, have you ever thought about the shows that we all watched? THEY. WERE. CRAZY.  Don't get me wrong.....I love nothing more than good luck dragons, the care bear stare, and my memories of cartoons and fun jingles.  BUT....I seriously believe that the producers of the 80's were literally on the biggest "trip" of all time. Don't believe me? Here's proof.

And if you need further proof, just think about 80's cartoons! Rainbow Brite. She Ra and He Man.  Care Bears. Fraggle Rock.  My Little Pony. SMURFs!! Gummi Bears.  Kids today watch "Dora the Explorer" and learn critical thinking skills. And oh yeah, a second language.  We learned.......????? I guess we did learn from the Care Bears that kindness and sharing go a long way.  NeverEnding Story taught me that giving up hope and dreams is about as bad as getting attacked by that creepy-as-all-get-out wolf.  And sure, I guess you could say that all of those shows focused on having a strong imagination.  But whoah, buddy, were they strange. Glad we all turned out okay, anyway! =) And......if any of you ever feel so inclined.....I'm more than happy to join in with you on a fight against "the nothing."

Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. an epic week

What an epic week! I'll start with tonight. So my friend Abby moved to Winston. Totally exciting, long awaited, great-opportunity-for-her, overall momentous occasion. I told her we'd celebrate. Picked my favorite restaurant downtown. Her sister drove in from Raleigh. I invited my best work friend to come. We enjoyed a great dinner downtown tonight. Felt all "small city metropolitan." (or at least I did). We walked as a group of four out to the parking lot, myself in front. I heard a scream. I turned around, expecting to see her talking to someone she knew. Instead I saw a man running away from us, and Abby saying that he tried to take her purse. I screamed at him. He just ran away. I saw a cop down the street who pulled someone over. I ran to him to ask for help. He helped us. "Robber" proceeds to come OUT of the parking deck near us AGAIN! pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end. I feel so lucky to have such great families on both sides. I have tons of cousins ...
