family love at holden beach

Jonathan, my brother the marine who had been living in Japan, IS BACK! We are so glad to have him back in the United States again! So instead of iChat, we will actually get to see him at least once a month! We spent time at our favorite beach together last week, and we all miss each other already. I think my mom is especially going through withdrawal after having all four of her kids in one place at one time again.  We had a blast at Holden - played games, sat in the oceanfront hot tub for hours (ooops), acted surprised each morning when our sand castles were gone, laughed, ate, ate, ate, ate, ate, and putt putted! Next year I WILL be there for the full week with them instead of just two nights.

    Thanks, Tonya! For all the sweet thoughts! We're so glad he's back. No, we didn't hire a photographer, actually. My brother has a Nikon, and he set it up with a tripod. And then I edited them before posting them. I think he's going to let me buy it from him.....I can't hardly wait!

Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end. Capri and Getting Home (final italy blog)

After Cinque Terre, we took the night train to Naples, then the ferry to Capri. Friends, if you take the night train in Italy, it is worth it to pay the price to have your own cabin. Trust me. We didn't sleep much at all because we were with 5 other people in this cabin. The island of Capri was amazing! We stayed in an amazing seaside resort, which was perfect for the end of the trip. We didn't walk around, didn't shop, didn't even really try to have an agenda. FANTASTIC.    Then it was back on the ferry to Naples. Of course, this water picture reminded me of LOST (sigh).  Heather left that night for her flight to Switzerland, then New York.  So I stayed near the airport and completely rested.
