visit from Cali!

In college there were three of us that were essentially sisters. Three amigos. The Jenny Lou, the Tricia Lynn and the Christin B. aka Jenn, Tricia and Brooke.  We traveled everywhere together - road trip across the country to California to stay with Tricia's family for a summer, Holden Beach with my family (where they adored my little brother with a bowl hair cut!), New Orleans for spring break, and more. 

Tricia and her little family traveled eastward from California to see her in-laws in Virginia last week.  We were able to see them VERY briefly before they flew back, and it was great to reconnect after 18 months. (How much does not seeing friends but every-almost-two-years suck??? Ugh).  I have a new camera, which I am very much still learning, but I took some pics of their daughters on our beloved campus.  I have looked at these every day since then, and they warm my heart.  I adore these girls.  Their mommies will be bridesmaids in my hypothetical wedding one day, and they will be flower girls (or junior bridesmaids, ha!).  Savannah and Magnolia. aka Nana and Nolie.

Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end. Capri and Getting Home (final italy blog)

After Cinque Terre, we took the night train to Naples, then the ferry to Capri. Friends, if you take the night train in Italy, it is worth it to pay the price to have your own cabin. Trust me. We didn't sleep much at all because we were with 5 other people in this cabin. The island of Capri was amazing! We stayed in an amazing seaside resort, which was perfect for the end of the trip. We didn't walk around, didn't shop, didn't even really try to have an agenda. FANTASTIC.    Then it was back on the ferry to Naples. Of course, this water picture reminded me of LOST (sigh).  Heather left that night for her flight to Switzerland, then New York.  So I stayed near the airport and completely rested. I'll admit, I also cried like a baby.  I seriously get these huge mood swings when I travel - one minute I'm over the top with excitement, the next I'm alone sobbing that its all over.  I also spent a lot of time with God that night, just thanking Him for suc...
