Wicked!

I FINALLY WENT TO OZ!!!

For five years I have been addicted to the soundtrack of "Wicked." I have been convinced that if I had the skills, I could totally play the role of understudy for Elphaba or Glinda because I have the entire song list memorized. (Oh, but I DON'T have those genetics. Those went to my brother, Christopher, who ISN'T choosing to do musical theater at all. Sigh).

I have tried in the past to see Wicked, to no avail. I was in New York during a 2007 two week stagehand strike, and the Broadway lights were off. What??? So annoying!  Then it came to Charlotte in 2008 and it sold out in 20 minutes! Again, I missed it. So it finally came back to NC this year, and my mom and I made sure to get our tickets back in February. We saw it in Charlotte the day after I returned from Italy, and it was INCREDIBLE.  It is the "ivy leagues" of broadway shows, and even the touring cast was good enough to be in New York. (And believe me, I have seen lots of other shows in New York).  It took me a week to decompress from the sheer joy of seeing it! (I know, I'm silly....but I have adored musical theater ever since I was 5 years old and saw "Annie" on stage).  You've got to see it, if you haven't already!!

Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. an epic week

What an epic week! I'll start with tonight. So my friend Abby moved to Winston. Totally exciting, long awaited, great-opportunity-for-her, overall momentous occasion. I told her we'd celebrate. Picked my favorite restaurant downtown. Her sister drove in from Raleigh. I invited my best work friend to come. We enjoyed a great dinner downtown tonight. Felt all "small city metropolitan." (or at least I did). We walked as a group of four out to the parking lot, myself in front. I heard a scream. I turned around, expecting to see her talking to someone she knew. Instead I saw a man running away from us, and Abby saying that he tried to take her purse. I screamed at him. He just ran away. I saw a cop down the street who pulled someone over. I ran to him to ask for help. He helped us. "Robber" proceeds to come OUT of the parking deck near us AGAIN! pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end.
