Girls Trip to Charleston

I have known Heather since we were 10 at Calvary Church, and Annie since high school at Providence. Even though Heather went to a different high school, we merged groups from our two schools for spring break 98 in hilton head. The three of us have been a tight unit ever since. We hadn't all been together since Annie's wedding in 2005, so this trip was a golden opportunity to catch up!

Here's a toast to Annie's first weekend away since having a baby, and 11 years of the trio.

So is having a great photographer, which our dazed waiter was NOT!



Visit from my CAC High Schoolers!

One of my favorite high school students from Charlotte (Andrea) is actually here at Salem this summer for Governors School. She is such a sweet girl and it has been so much fun being able to see her this summer. She is the one that dressed up like me in 07 for Halloween - crutches, "Church at Charlotte" tshirt, and coke in hand. Hilarious! A big group of CAC students her age came to visit her this past Sunday, and I crashed their party and had a BLAST! I miss them so incredibly much. I kept telling them that my life in Winston would be complete if they and their families lived up here with me!

Ahh, spring 2017, you were MONUMENTAL. Absolutely monumental. You will forever be remembered as one of my favorite seasons of life. For in this season....(are you ready blog readers??).....I ENTERED INTO A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP. It's true!! It's true!! I'm not going to share his name or photos, yet, in order to respect the fact that we both work at the same university, and it is a MAJOR "fishbowl" around here. Whew! an epic week

What an epic week! I'll start with tonight. So my friend Abby moved to Winston. Totally exciting, long awaited, great-opportunity-for-her, overall momentous occasion. I told her we'd celebrate. Picked my favorite restaurant downtown. Her sister drove in from Raleigh. I invited my best work friend to come. We enjoyed a great dinner downtown tonight. Felt all "small city metropolitan." (or at least I did). We walked as a group of four out to the parking lot, myself in front. I heard a scream. I turned around, expecting to see her talking to someone she knew. Instead I saw a man running away from us, and Abby saying that he tried to take her purse. I screamed at him. He just ran away. I saw a cop down the street who pulled someone over. I ran to him to ask for help. He helped us. "Robber" proceeds to come OUT of the parking deck near us AGAIN! Cop arrested him, five cop cars pulled up....and many questions later we learn that we will all have to appe...

pre-wedding festivities continue!

Blair's wedding is getting ever closer....about 10 days to be exact. We are all definitely feeling the craziness, that is for sure. Are weddings ever really "simple" affairs?? Despite the hectic schedule of wedding planning, we are all so excited for next week and have high hopes for a wonderful wedding weekend. Blair is the first of us four kids to get married, the first cousin on one side & only the second on the other to get married - so we are all new at this wedding thing! =) We celebrated with my dad's family this weekend to give them a chance to meet Matthew and his family. My dad's family is huge and most of them were able to come with us to Falls Lake park for two big meals, football, and "hanging out." The rain held off (as the rainbow in the morning promised us!) and Blair and I sobbed leaving because it was such a special day. We didn't want it to end.
